Anywhere Telecommute opportunityWe are looking for a user experience / designer / front-end developer who enjoys creating simple, smooth, and intuitive websites/mobile apps that millions of people actually use!
Chess.com is the #1 online chess service more than five million members across our Chess.com site, Facebook app, iGoogle app, iOS app, Android app, and ChessKid.com site for kids. We have an awesome team of passionate developers from all around the world - from USA to Argentina to London to Poland to Russia. We are a hard-working, fun group of people who enjoy chess and love building a successful website that serves so many people.
We’ve been focused on the backend/features until now. For the year of 2012 our theme is: improve the experience. We are almost done with a complete site-wide redesign (totally revamped UI and design! We know – the current site looks so 1999…) You will be the designer on staff and will own the whole experience!
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
- Improving our redesign (fonts, colors, elements)
- Front-end development (css, jquery)
- Examine key flows (registration, onboarding, start game)
- Enhance iPhone/Android apps usability and design
- Create a new design aesthetic for ChessKid.com
- Be involved in all new product discussions, wireframing, and design
- Make sure we are using the right social hooks for Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- Make assets for online advertising campaigns
WHO YOU ARE
- You are fluent in English and online during some US business hours.
- You want to work at a real company. Not so big that you’re lost in the shuffle, but not a crazy napkin-idea startup that will probably fail.
- You love clean, modern, app-based design – simple like Twitter & Facebook, not schmancy like Disney.com.
- You believe experience comes before aesthetics.
- You believe in design through code.
- You know enough PHP to work in templates.
- You are easy to work with, have a fun personality, and like to work hard.
