Anywhere Telecommute opportunitySouthwestern Advantage Online is an online learning system that includes a video-based, educational site for kids (SkWids.com) and a website for teens for homework and online learning (SWadvantage.com)! We've been so focused on the back-end architecture and production of educational content that our website design hasn't been able to keep pace with building new features!
We are a growing company with an exciting vision in education in how an online, subscription-based educational website can help improve learning in a variety of ways!!
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: We are looking for a part-time, user experience & interaction designer who enjoys creating fun and intuitive user interfaces!! It would be 10-20 hours per week and you would need to be comfortable designing a compelling experience for both kids and teens!
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON:
As part of our existing design process, you would:
- Suggest improvements to existing page templates (rethink page flows, navigation)
- Create interactive and fun interfaces (simple educational games)-- Understand business objectives and recommend design improvements (engagement, time on-site, pageviews)
- Make relevant graphic assets (logos, icons, buttons)
- Be involved in product discussions (wire-framing, product specs)
As part of a redesign effort in the future, you would:
- Examining key flows (site navigation, on-boarding, registration)
- Take charge in a redesign effort (fonts, colors, navigation)
- Understand how to create a compelling brand experience (characters, story)
WHO ARE YOU: You are fluent in English and online during US business hours. You want to work on an exciting project where you will have a significant impact in the creative vision and success of websites that help kids and teens learn online. You believe that experience is an essential part of design and you know how to take a value proposition and bring it to life through superior design.
WHO ARE WE: The Southwestern Company is a 150 year old publishing company that helps college students market educational material to families across North America, including books, software and, since 2010, online websites. We're a fun group of people located in New York City and Nashville, TN.
