WEB SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

Colorado Springs, COThe Web SystemsAdministrator works as part of Network & Systems Services to design,implement, and maintain the enterprise web systems for Colorado College. Thisposition contributes to the Information Management Division by planning,implementing, coordinating, assessing, and maintaining mission critical webservices and systems. This position also works closely with the Help Desk introubleshooting and solving system-wide issues. The Web SystemsAdministrator works as part of a team of seven, reporting to the Director ofNetwork & Systems Services.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage, secure, and maintain the Colorado College web server environment, including the College’s content management system (dotCMS).
- Responsible for systems performance and tuning
- Develop, & maintain in-house web applications
- Install and maintain third-party web applications
- Respond to web server monitoring alerts, triage and troubleshoot as appropriate
- Incorporate new technologies into the College’s website as directed.
- Collaborate with colleagues on the planning, implementation, training, and support for campus-wide web-based systems.
- Learn new programming languages and related technical skills to enhance and expand Colorado College’s web services, including helping program special web-based initiatives.
- Provide regular reports on web operations and activities as requested.
- Provide consulting and training to the campus community on effective uses of web technology, design, and development.
- Cross-train with NSS colleagues to provided redundant support.
- Participate in key NSS-based projects and strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate vendor relationships, including providing specifications, obtaining quotes, and purchasing for web systems.
- Collaborate with colleagues on database-driven web projects.
- Perform otherduties as requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of two years’ experience configuring, securing, maintaining and administering content management systems (CMS), web programming language/environment and maintaining an enterprise-level website and related technologies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, time-management skills, and problem solving skills
- Strong collaborative working style and ability to work well within a team and with the many constituencies in a college environment
- Desire to acquire new knowledge and skills using initiative as required by the technical challenges in this environment
Preferred
- Background in the liberal arts
- Master’s degree or higher level of education
