Web Designer

We are looking for someone who can create and implement web site design concepts that attract, engage, and propel the University brand and message while also being able to do front end development.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design, develop and support the online presence for Seattle University and marketing-oriented web sites.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions during conceptual design phases of new projects.
- Collaborate between project teams to establish and translate creative directions into clean website interfaces.
- Ensure web standards, brand guidelines, and accessibility requirements are met.
- Develop and update best practices as needed.
- Select photography, typography, illustration, and other visual materials for inclusion in web sites and features.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years experience in web design/front-end development.
- Expert XHTML/CSS skills - W3C valid, Section 508 compliant.
- Solid knowledge of Javascript, XML/XSLT, AJAX.
- Ability to ensure cross-browser/platform consistency and compatibility of web projects.
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Understanding of user interface/experience design with a focus on accessibility of information to all users.
- Ability to take a project from sketches to wireframes to implementation.
- Experience implementing templates into robust Content Management Systems.
- Experience working on multiple large-scale projects, including crisis projects, on tight deadlines.
- Ability to clearly present ideas to a wide-range of clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience OR education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position as described above.
- Extensive knowledge of related technologies and user interface design.
- Strong understanding of the existing and changing digital and web landscape.
- Knowledge of social networking and web 2.0 technologies and best practices.
- Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills.
- Must be self-motivated with excellent work ethic, positive attitude, and obsessive attention to detail.

Salary:
Salary will be discussed during the interview process and is commensurate with qualifications.
