Required skills

• Good with HTML & CSS.  You should have the ability to convert Photoshop designs into websites, using your own good judgment when needed on how things should work.
• Good with WordPress & PHP. You should be able to create new, and work with existing, WordPress templates. We are a WordPress shop. Nearly all of our clients site use it as the CMS, although some use custom PHP.
• Some JavaScript (typically jQuery) skills. Most of the existing sites we maintain use jQuery. You don't need to be a JavaScript hero, but you should be familiar enough to maintain what is there and use it to do typical design tasks.

Your Experience

* 1-5+ years of interaction & graphic design for web applications

* Solid understanding of user centered design principles and how it applies in the real-world

* Understanding of how code affects design and vice versa - HTML/CSS/JS experience is desired

* Experience designing RIAs or Mac user interfaces are pluses

Your Responsibilities

Flickerbox, Inc. is looking for an Interactive Designer. You should live in the San Francisco Bay Area or be willing to relocate. This position is full-time, working in our SOMA office.

You are a junior or mid-level designer eager to work as a dedicated, on-site member of our design team. We work very closely with our clients, so this opportunity is perfect for someone who wants to take on lots of direct responsibility. The work may include entire website redesigns, extending functionality and templates for existing websites and clients, and design for lead generation marketing campaigns.  Additional work may include Flash animation and simple print work.

You have to understand how to work in an existing visual/branding system and within grid frameworks. You need to be able to prioritize and complete multiple  tasks/project within (sometimes hairy) deadlines without sacrificing (too much) quality. You have to be able to work  through your own issues but also be able to work through issues with your team. And you should be good at presenting your work in an organized and articulate way, and   comfortable contributing in meetings, internally and with clients.

And even more important than your skills is the attitude we're looking for - did we mention we work very closely together (in a big room)? Responsibilities

• Mapping visual decisions to client business goals
• Assisting with the development of user interface specs for websites including wireframes and information architecture documentation

• Communicating conceptual ideas and design decisions internally and to clients

This position will be based at our office in downtown Oakland. In this position you will design and implement a variety of user facing applications and content.

Responsibilities Include:

•    Design and build high quality web-based interfaces
•    Design and prototype user interfaces for non-web application
•    Work on a large variety of development projects, including customer facing applications, internal applications, and marketing and sales information
•    Create applications for Windows, Linux, and Mac users

Qualifications Include:

•    2-5 years of web design and user interface development experience
