Front end

You can build a standards and SEO-aware site in XHTML or HTML5 and CSS from PhotoShop comps. My clients sweat over pixels; you should be able to build an obsessively correct rendition of a layout in the major desktop browsers and know how to bend IE6, 7 and 8 to your will when you need to. You don't need to be a mobile web specialist (or know anything about mobile app development) but you do need to be aware of the constraints of mobile devices and know how to create a site that works gracefully within them. You should also be comfortable with at least mid-level JavaScript coding, with an emphasis on jQuery.

Back end

You can make your way around in PHP and MySQL. Although you don't need to be a hard-core backend developer, you can figure out an unfamiliar PHP CMS or ecommerce package and get a basic site templated and running. You can roll your own basic data entry form or authentication system without reaching for a framework. You can set up a basic MySQL database, make structural changes or export data as needed. You can find your way around on a Linux command line.

WordPress experience is important. You can set up a WordPress site from graphic comps to launch. You're familiar with common WP plugins and are good at finding plugins to solve whatever requirements present themselves. Experience with Drupal and common ecommerce packages is a plus.

We are looking for a python developer to help us update our existing site. We are looking to implement a system that will allow our users to specify their auth.net, paypal account information, or use a generic payment gateway from a provider called Accelerated Payment Technologies(http://acceleratedpay.com/). Using that information we will we take payments from their own clients. We also have a new design and flow to the site that we want integrated as well.

We will also need an email auto responder. We will be receiving emails in a fixed format that will be looking for information from our database(Postgres). We will then take those emails parse the data and query our database for the information requested and compose a new email and send it to the email address that was supplied in the original email.

This will include taking the designs that will be provided in and AdobeIllistrator file and turning it into a working web page.

If you are chosen you will be provided with the current source code and a development environment to work with. The development server is hosted on an AWS EC2 Ubuntu x64 instance. The source is version controlled by git and synced with a repo on github. You will also be given the design files needed to complete the task.

You'll be expected to put in between 140 hours a month for $6250/month.

Occasional Wordpress work will be involved too, though that is becoming much more rare. We have some ongoing Codeigniter projects that you could work on as well.

The Wyoming Distance Learning Center is looking for a developer (or a team) to convert an existing PHP/MySQL project to a WP plugin. The current site can be found at wyclass.wy.edu

We're a small state entity, but don't let that scare you away! Really, we're a small educational startup! We're dedicated to the idea that people should be able to work from wherever they are, and so this job encourages telecommuting, web conferencing, etc — whatever gets the job done really, we're flexible :) There is however one caveat we can't get get away from; as we'll be paying for this with state funds, we can't hire outside the United States. We want to take the current functionality of WyCLASS and put it in a WordPress plugin so that we can replace the current site with a WP install. The database, search, and connectivity code etc is already written in generic PHP, we just need someone with the skills to make it an easy-to-administer plugin!
