We've got a 2-4 month project we're working on for a client that needs a solid PHP dev to step in and take over completion of the project. The web app was started by another developer in CodeIgniter and is about 60%-70% complete. We have other devs in house who have completed the majority of the HTML/CSS/jQuery work for the web app, but now we need someone to finish up the core of the development to actually get the web app in working order for our client.

We're looking for a talented web and graphic designer with a strong desire to craft a visually-compelling experience that delights our teacher-users, and to constantly expand his or her design skills along the way. Ideally, you'll start immediately in a part-time capacity, with the opportunity to transition to full-time after successful completion of initial projects.

Requirements:

• Solid understanding of layout, typography, color and other design principles
• Holistic approach to web design that takes user flows, goals and page states into account
• Strong attention to detail and a sense of pride and ownership over the quality of the product
• Proficiency in Illustrator, Fireworks and Photoshop
• An ability to quickly develop and iterate designs based on feedback, and always meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills (we live in Skype and Podio)

Extras that will make you stand out:

• Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript with an ability to prototype using these technologies a strong plus
• Experience working with developers, exposure to Agile development processes
• Interested in educational equity and social entrepreneurship
• Experience working with large data sets and knowledgable about data visualization best practices
• Experience working with remote teams (if not based in NOLA)

• Demonstrated expertise (3+ yrs) building elegant web applications with highly interactive UI  
• A passion for web standards and usability   
• Expert Javascript knowledge (coding from scratch *and* utilizing jQuery)
• Great at HTML and CSS
• Believer in the Agile development processes
• Ability to meet deadlines and to see a project through to completion
• Team player and solid communicator       

Extras that will make you stand out:

• Experience using version control systems such as Subversion, Git.
• Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Balsamiq or equivalent tools
• Experience with PHP and JSON
• Strong debugging skills
• Experience designing for cross browser compatibility
