Community Coordinator

Details

– Accepting applications

CreativeMornings is a free breakfast lecture series with volunteer-led chapters in 180 cities around the word. Since 2008, we have provided an accessible place for creative communities to meet up and get inspired around the world. As we are expanding by a rate of two new chapters a month, we are looking for someone to join our team as a Community Coordinator to help us manage our growing organization.

The Community Coordinator is an essential role in supporting and enabling the world’s leading creative community. At CreativeMornings, that means supporting and working closely with a global network of 1500 volunteers that host 2000+ events a year in 15+ languages. We need someone who is a doer. We’re on the hunt for a person who isn’t afraid to take on a wide variety of tasks to serve organizers, volunteers and attendees.

You will be working out of CreativeMornings Headquarters which is located at Friends Work Here coworking space in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. If you love CreativeMornings and want to get involved, read on.

Our ideal person:

  • Has empathy as a core strength, gets energized from helping others and answering questions.

  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and gets excited about making friends from around the world.

  • On a scale from 1-10, is a 12 when it comes to being organized.

  • Writes well and is a natural communicator. You’re not afraid to jump on Skype if it means getting to an answer quickly.

  • Has a sharp eye and is detail oriented.

  • Is tech-savvy and thrives on making a system to get things done properly and efficiently. We use Basecamp, Slack, Siteleaf, Dropmark, Asana, Google Drive, Keynote, DropBox, Adobe Creative Cloud (in particular, Photoshop and Illustrator), MailChimp, Github, Trello, Zoom and more. You don’t need to be familiar with everything but you need to be a fast learner!

  • Has a passion for events (bonus points for past experience!)

  • Thrives in a quick environment, ready to jump in and enthusiastically embrace any challenge and is not too precious for grunt work (nobody on our staff is).

  • You are resourceful and can figure things out on your own. You know how to give it a Google.

  • Is reliable. Yes means yes!

  • Has a passion for good design and their finger on the pulse in the creative world.

  • Gets goosebumps while watching this.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the community team to streamline onboarding process for new hosts.

  • Assisting with the overall community management of a rapidly growing organization.

  • Answering questions from our community (hosts, organizers and event attendees) through our support channel.

  • Monitoring the social media feeds of every chapter to find and highlight great stories coming out of the global community.

  • Reviewing systems currently in place for our host community and recommending and implementing improvements.

  • Building resources that directly benefit our volunteer community.

  • Assisting with the production of local NYC events.

  • Assisting with the production of our global organizers Summit.

  • Jumping in to support other CreativeMornings projects such as partnership campaigns, our podcast, impact related initiatives, etc.

This position is ideal for someone who’s passionate about bringing people together. You will learn about a wide variety of subjects in the realm of community building, event planning and partnerships. We’re a tiny team in Brooklyn that serves a worldwide community of volunteers.
